Increase in Remuneration of Military Personnel in Spain

The Ministry of Defence has announced a salary increase for military personnel in all categories of €200 linear. AUME positively values this increase in salaries, although it considers that it falls very short in relation to the loss of purchasing power suffered by the group. AUME maintains its claim to adjust the salaries of members of the armed forces to the reality of the cost of living and in an equivalent sense to other groups of public employees.

The increase seems to be related to the forecast increase in Defence spending, derived from the changing international and particularly European security situation, and where the disproportion between personnel and material spending may continue to grow. The demands for preparation and self-sacrificing work of military personnel in the Security and Defence of our societies must lead to fair compensation and decent working conditions, as well as taking into account military personnel in collective bargaining through their associative representatives.

AUME appreciates the initiative of the Ministry of Defence, but maintains its demand for adequate remuneration, which with the announced increase is still very far from an acceptable level.
