In Portugal, after the complaint presented by EUROMIL…
On June 25, 2025, dozens of military personnel answered the call of the Professional Military Associations (APM) for a meeting in the auditorium of the Santo Amaro Academy, in Lisbon.
In the light of the recent decision by the European Committee of Social Rights to give effect to the “right of association and claim action for Portuguese military personnel, including special prerogatives for meaningful social dialogue”, the two pillars of the socio-professional/union struggle were discussed as indispensable tools for the work of the APM:
– Collective bargaining, with links to the supervisory body;
– Litigation representation for APM members.
At the end, a Joint Motion was approved to be delivered to the President of the Republic, the President of the Portuguese Parliament and the Prime Minister, in which the conclusions of the meeting and the way forward were summarized.
In compliance with what was decided at the 25JUN military meeting, last July 9, a delegation from the three associations, made up of João Mata, President of the ANS Board, Branco Baptista, Secretary General of the AOFA National Council and Santos Pereira, Vice-President of the AP Board, delivered the Joint Motion to the President of the Republic, the President of the Portuguese Parliament and the Prime Minister.
