EUROMIL’s Extraordinary General Assembly 2025: A New Chapter
On 9 May 2025, EUROMIL organised its Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) in Brussels, an event held every four years. This year’s extraordinary session was linked to the 131st General Assembly, which continued on 9 and 10 May.
At the EGA, President Emmanuel Jacob presented the Board’s report on the 2021–2025 mandate. It was a positive and hopeful reflection on EUROMIL’s work over the past four years. As he said during his presentation: “Over the past four years, EUROMIL has shown that even in challenging times, with hard work and commitment, we can make real progress in defending the rights of military personnel across Europe.”
Two motions were submitted by the outgoing Board and approved by the Assembly. The first one focused on strengthening EUROMIL’s mission, improving social dialogue, preparing future leadership and reinforcing members’ engagement. The second motion called for stronger health and safety protections for armed forces personnel across Europe, especially during times of increased pressure on the military.
The Extraordinary General Assembly also elected the new EUROMIL Board for the mandate 2025–2029. Emmanuel Jacob was re-elected President, supported by Jörg Greiffendorf (DBwV, Germany) as 1st Vice-President and Johan Öhlén (SAMO, Sweden) as 2nd Vice-President. Christian Schleck (SPAL, Luxemburg), Marcell Hajdok (HÉSZ, Hungary), Ronni Pedersen (CS, Denmark), Ger Guinan (PDFORRA, Ireland), Germán Gómez Martínez (AUGC, Spain), and George Zgardanas (P.FE.AR.F.U., Greece) were elected as Board members. Finn Bengtsen (CS, Denmark) and Ingo Zergiebel (DBwV, Germany) will serve as Auditors.
Accepting the outcome of the elections, President Emmanuel Jacob underlined: “This new Board will need to lead EUROMIL through a transition mandate towards new leadership and a future in a changing security structure. The challenges ahead of us are huge – but we can face them, with everybody’s full commitment.”
Congratulations to all the elected candidates! We’re excited to start this new chapter together and continue fighting for the rights, welfare, and recognition of Europe’s military personnel.
