BUAFWA meets the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Armed Forces Women’s Association (BUAFWA) met with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria, Atanas Zapryanov, on March 10 at the Ministry of Defence. The Minister expressed appreciation for the contributions of women in uniform to the development of military capabilities and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for women in the armed forces.

Captain Maria Krashevska, Chairperson of BUAFWA, emphasized the importance of social dialogue and welcomed the Ministry’s commitment to engaging with the association’s priorities. She also underscored the significance of EUROMIL (the European Organization of Military Associations and Trade Unions), which represents over 30 military associations from more than 20 countries. EUROMIL advocates for the rights of military personnel, promotes better working conditions, and strengthens cooperation among its members.

The meeting also addressed key initiatives led by BUAFWA, including campaigns supporting the Children of the Bulgarian Army Foundation and opportunities for higher military education.
