SPAL: Advocating for Luxembourg’s Soldiers
The “Syndicat Professionnel de l’Armée luxembourgeoise” (SPAL), the largest union for Luxembourg’s armed forces, continues to address key challenges faced by military personnel. In a recent meeting with the Déi Gréng party (The Greens), SPAL highlighted pressing issues, including dissatisfaction among volunteer soldiers over statutory changes, concerns about the RICO law impacting working conditions, and the need for sustainable recruitment strategies. They also discussed the potential reintroduction of conscription and future plans like the Belgium-Luxembourg bi-national battalion.
