Demanding Fairness: Equal Hazard Pay for Military Personnel

The Panhellenic Federation of Armed Forces Unions (PFEARFU) expresses its profound disappointment over the exclusion of military personnel from the hazardous and unhealthy work allowance, which is currently provided to civilian employees working under the same conditions. Despite repeated protests, this unjustifiable discrimination continues to persist.

The letter highlights that military nurses, aircraft technicians, firefighters, and other military workers do not receive the allowance, whereas their civilian counterparts do. This unequal treatment is unacceptable and undervalues the vital contributions of military personnel.

PFEARFU calls on the government to rectify this injustice and recognize the contributions of military personnel. Addressing this issue will not only promote fairness but also significantly boost the morale and sense of equity among military staff.
